Marriage to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Hazrat Khadija (R.A) first met Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when she hired him to manage her trade caravan. His honesty, truthfulness, and piety impressed her deeply. She sent a proposal through her friend Nafisa, and soon, at the age of 40, she married Muhammad ﷺ, who was 25.Their marriage was built upon trust, respect, and mutual love. Hazrat Khadija (R.A) provided emotional and financial support to her husband throughout their blessed life together.

The First to Believe in Islam

When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ received the first revelation in the cave of Hira, he returned home trembling. It was Hazrat Khadija (R.A) who comforted him, covered him with a cloak, and said with conviction:“By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You maintain the ties of kinship, help the poor, honor your guests, and support the truth.”She then took him to her cousin Waraqah bin Nawfal, who confirmed that Muhammad ﷺ was indeed the awaited Prophet. At that very moment, Khadija (R.A) became the first person to believe in Islam, making her the first Muslim in history.

Her Sacrifice and Support in Difficult Times

The early years of Islam were filled with persecution, social boycott, and suffering. She was also blessed with other children, including Qasim, Abdullah, Zainab, Ruqayyah, and Umm Kulthum (R.A).Her household was filled with light and love, centered on the remembrance of Allah and the service of humanity.

Wafaat of Hazrat Khadija (R.A)

After a life devoted to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, Hazrat Khadija (R.A) passed away on the 10th year of Prophethood, which corresponds to the 5th of Ramzan in Islamic history. Her death came shortly after the passing of Abu Talib (R.A), the Prophet’s uncle and protector.This year became known as the “Aam-ul-Huzn” (Year of Sorrow), as the Prophet ﷺ deeply grieved her loss.
